Consultant Gastroenterologist

Dr Evangelos Russo is a skilled gastroenterologist based in London. He specialises in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, colonoscopy, and polypectomy, and is an expert in treating conditions such as chronic diarrhoea, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and acid reflux, among others.

As a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Dr Russo:

• Is a core member of the complex polypectomy service.

• Runs a specialist clinic on microscopic colitis and investigation of chronic diarrhoea.

• Is a core member of the specialist IBD clinics at St Mary's and Hammersmith Hospitals. 

• Holds weekly General Gastroenterology clinics for patients with

  • Abdominal pain​/ Bloating

  • Change in bowel habit

  • Dyspepsia/ Reflux/Indigestion

  • Rectal bleeding

• Runs 3 weekly endoscopy and colonoscopy lists comprising of routine diagnostic and complex therapeutic cases. 

• Is a core member of the multidisciplinary lower GI cancer team.

 

Dr Russo graduated from University College London in 2003. He completed further training on the North West Thames rotation, while also earning a PhD in Translational Medicine from Imperial College London for his research on imaging techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of Crohn's disease. He has been extensively involved in IBD research  and his work has been widely published. He is also an honorary clinical lecturer at Imperial College London.
